There's no such thing as vacation!

Back in January, two of my friends and I booked a trip to the Bahamas through Orbitz. We got an amazing deal, which included round trip airfare on Continental Airlines and a four-nights at the Sheraton Resort in Cable Beach, Nassau. From that moment on, whenever there was the slightest stress in my life, I soothed it with thoughts of a relaxing vacation in a tropical paradise.

Well, that vacation has come and gone. Was it relaxing? To an extent. As a photographer, my eyes and shutter were constantly on the lookout. It was also my first time to the Caribbean, so the water mesmerized me. So did the palm trees, white sand, hotels and everything else we encountered on our daily excursions.

When you're a photographer, you never go on vacation. My camera was by my side as I took in new sights and sounds, and it was ready at a moment's notice as I captured all that was magnificent. And while this doesn't sound like a true vacation, for me it was a dream come true. I was given the chance to capture the Bahamas through my lens, and now my memories will forever be at my fingertips in my prints and digital images. Not to mention, my friends and family enjoyed sharing in my adventures! I hope you enjoy it too, as below I've posted some of my favorite snapshots from the trip.

The palm trees were absolutely beautiful!

The color of the water was gorgeous too, and the sailboat
made it picture perfect.

Wouldn't you know? Someone had a sunflower gate!

This walkway was picturesque and
the lines made for an
interesting shot.

So did this hut. I love the shadows.

Looking down at the water from that promenade.
It looked lighter and crystal clear thanks to the sun.

This was the beach scene that greeted me every day!

The architecture in downtown Nassau
was beautiful, and every building is pink,
yellow, green, blue and even purple!

The straw market was filled with handmade items.

Baskets and bags weaved from straw were quite popular.

Here is a manta ray, through the glass at the aquarium
at Atlantis on Paradise Island.

There she is, the Atlantis. It's definitely a sight to see.

I was fascinated by the light fixtures!
Every one was beautiful and nautical!

The palm trees and clouds set the scene for the Marina Village,
shops and restaurants also on the Atlantis grounds.

Inside Bimini Road, one of the restaurants in the village.
I thought the decor was so charming!

I love animals, and this bird had to be captured.
He was sitting outside on the dock at Stuart's Cove,
where my friends and I went on a snorkeling adventure.

These flowers were on our hotel grounds, and right above
them was a palm tree-like bush,
which I had a lot of fun
using in when composing this shot.

I bought a conch shell at the market, and just had to take
some shots on the beach.

As the sunset on my last night, I looked
around for some final shots.
This one was
taken between
two railings on an outside deck.

Did you think I wouldn't take shots from the plane?!
Not to mention, it was such a clear day on the flight
home. One last look at that turquoise water.

The sky was so blue, I couldn't help myself.
Can you tell where the sky and water meet?
(On a side note, the plane shots were taken
with Canon my point-and-shoot, no flash.)
